Ecosupport is an expanding ecological consultancy based in Hampshire. We provide high quality ecological support across a broad range of sectors including residential, transport, utility and site restoration. Ecosupport is currently hiring Seasonal Bat Surveyors, a Project Ecologist and Vegetation Management Operative. See below for details.

Seasonal Bat Surveyors

We are looking for seasonal bat surveyors to join our team in conducting bat surveys between May to September.

The Role:

The role involves dawn or dusk bat surveys throughout the survey season. The position offers flexible hours, with the option to choose the evenings you work. The position will involve approximately 6-14 hours per week (depending on availability), between Monday to Friday.

Experience & Requirements:

Previous experience with bat surveys is an asset but not essential. Training will be provided.

A driver's licence and vehicle is required.

Benefits:

Compensation is paid monthly at a per survey rate.

You will gain experience in ecological surveys and there may be further training or survey opportunities for other protected species.

Project Ecologist

The Role:

Your role will be to plan, manage and deliver professional ecological services to a broad range of clients. You will be responsible for the coordination of surveys and field staff, as well as liaison with clients and other professionals and organisations.

You will be based in Lee on the Solent, Hampshire, with travel throughout the region and occasionally the surrounding areas. Your time will be divided between office and field-based work.

Skills and Experience:

Strong communication, organisation and team working skills are essential, as well as a positive attitude, self-discipline and a desire to be challenged!

You will have:

We are looking for someone with least two years’ experience working as an Ecological Consultant, capable of taking on your own projects and clients as soon as you’ve settled in to the team. The following experience is essential:

  • Production of a range of technical reports including impact assessment and mitigation strategies
  • EPSM Licence applications
  • Project coordination and management
  • Client liaison & project tendering
  • Strong all-round field skills
  • Protected Species licenses desirable, particularly bats
  • Bat sound analysis using Analook
  • Creative approach to problem-solving
  • Relevant BSc as a minimum
  • Full driving licence essential

Vegetation Management Operative

The Role:

Ecosupport Ltd are increasing their Habitats Team. We are looking for a number of operatives keen to primarily take on vegetation management tasks both on and off the rail network to achieve biodiversity net gain and general ecological management and enhancements. Opportunities will arise with our Habitats team to be working for both small and large biodiversity net gain projects assisting our clients in achieving increased ecological benefits on both residential, commercial and network rail projects.

There will also be opportunities to work alongside our ecologists to set up and carry out a number of species surveys as well as implementing species mitigation.

Skills and Experience:

Strong communication, organisation and team working skills are essential, as well as a positive attitude, self-discipline and a desire to be challenged!

You should have experience in:

  • Personal Trackside Safety (PTS) an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
  • Experienced mechanical brushcutter/strimmer usage essential (Lantra preferred but not essential just experienced and competent)
  • Ecologically minded outlook

Pay grade will be subject to experience.
