Assistant / Field Ecologist

Job description Here at Ecosupport, we are expanding our team assisting with a range of survey work as well as mapping, data analysis and reporting. As such, we will have multiple opportunities for assistant / field ecologists to join our busy and dynamic team based on Daedalus airfield, Lee-on-the-Solent.

The role will typically entail the following:

  • Assisting with protected species surveys (bats, Dormice, reptiles, Badgers, GCN)
  • Habitat surveys including quadrate surveys and assisting with habitat condition assessments
  • Data analysis (bat sonograms, video analysis)

There will be times when travel is required and our current work bank covers Kent to Dorset so a degree of flexibility will be needed in terms of the hours worked (which can of course increase during our busiest periods). An ability to undertake evening / night time work on bat surveys will also be essential along with a full UK driving licence. The right candidates will be driven, and demonstrate a willingness to learn along with a strong aptitude for new tasks and whilst previous experience is desirable, but is by no means essential as training will be provided.

Habitat Team Operative

Due to an increased workload Ecosupport's Habitat Management Team requires additional experienced permanent staff.

Applicants will need to be physically fit and have a full driving licence to join our existing team to carry out various on-the-ground species mitigation.

Applicants will have experience with installing fencing and preferably with hibernaculum construction, tree planting, and sensitive vegetation clearance along with other habitat improvement tasks.

You will also have the opportunity to increase your knowledge and skills and assist with various protected species surveys with all training provided.

We are looking for applicants with machinery handling certification inclusive of chainsaw, brushcutter, excavator and other such operational experience.
